LaFawn Davis began her talk by introducing herself as a fabulous Black American queer disabled woman and mother, and modeled how our identities shape the way that we experience the world around us. In a healing and empowering talk, she encouraged us to live on purpose, engage in authentic introspection, trust ourselves, and value progress over perfection. She shared insights from the world’s largest study of work wellbeing and highlighted the importance of harmonious alignment, which looks like practicing our purpose in our careers and personal lives. To walk in your purpose, LaFawn Davis offered a few recommendations.
Embrace challenges to foster creativity, resilience, and abundant growth. Cultivate a community that cares for the health, happiness, and wellbeing of others. Recognize that you cannot do everything for everyone everywhere; establish and respect your boundaries. Once you become clear on your purpose, speak on it! Declare it and share it, because you might share that same purpose with others. Know your purpose and allow it to be ruthlessly prioritized. Lastly, always give yourself grace.
